CIGRS in Dexter, Sunday July 17

Sarah's Family to Chicago, Sunday, July 24

Sunday, July 17

Susan and I headed out to Dexter and the home of Sharon Seely on Sunday for the July meeting of the Central Iowa Garden Railroad Society.  Sharon's layout is in a beautiful setting of mature trees, and featured curves sharp enough to keep most guest equipment off the rails.  In spite of the very warm afternoon, we were comfortable in the shade of her backyard.

Sunday, July 24

My daughter and her family decided to vacation in Chicago for a week, and I volunteered to take them to Osceola to meet the train Sunday.  The eastbound Zephyr, due at 8:10 A.M., was running a bit late but finally arrived 12:12.  Station attendant Pat Green greeted the train and the conductor was waiting as the door opened for boarding.  Today's consist:
AMTK 60 and 45
Baggage 1171
Sleepers 32030, 3211, and 32077
Diner 38014
Sightseer Lounge 33003
Coaches 34004, 34031 and 34074
Two XpressTrak cars
I spotted my grandkids waving from the Superliner coach window and they closed the doors and got underway about 20 after.  I was back the next weekend to pick them up, but it was too dark for pictures.

That's It!
